Public Hearing Minutes

January 14, 2003

7:00 P.M.

The January 14, 2003 Public Hearing on the 2nd Amendment to the Open Space Plan was called to order by Supervisor Anderson at 7:04 p.m., at the Community Center.  The  Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Clerk Johansen called the roll with Supervisor Anderson and Trustees Manser, Gillen, Judy, and Kupar present.

Supervisor Anderson stated the purpose of the meeting was to consider the proposed 2nd Amendment to the Open Space Plan.  He asked for Public Comments.

Public Comments – Proposed Open Space Properties:

Ken Alles said we would like for residents to make comments on the proposed amendments.  The proposal is on the table.  If property is not in the plan we can’t buy it.  Together with the Forest Preserve we are approaching 1000 acres purchased in Campton Township, and we have earned over 3 million in Open Space grants.  The Open Space program is voluntary for property owners.  This is for willing sellers only.  There is no condemnation.  Most properties in the plan will probably not receive an offer.

Jack Shouba said there are three parcels we propose to add:

1.      Silver Glen east along Silver Glen Road.  This is next to the Corron farm.

2.      Glenwood School property that is surrounded by open space they may want to sell to other buyers.

3.      Gray Willow.  An outstanding property with trees and water.

There were no other public comments.

Adjournment:

     R. Manser moved to adjourn the Public Hearing.  J. Kupar seconded the motion which passed unanimously by voice vote.  The Public Hearing adjourned at 7:10 p.m.

                                                                        Respectfully Submitted,

                                                                        Richard Johansen
