Public Hearing Minutes

Truth in Taxation – Town Fund

November 20, 2001

6:30 p.m.

Supervisor Anderson convened the Public Hearing at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Clerk Johansen called the roll with Supervisor Anderson and Clerk Johansen at the table. Trustees Judy, Kupar and Gillen were in the audience.

Supervisor Anderson informed those present that the purpose of the Hearing was to hear public comments on a proposed property tax levy increase for the Town Fund of Campton Township for the year 2001.

Ron Petrucci stated this notice was just in the paper yesterday. That doesn’t give enough time. Supervisor Anderson stated this is not an individual tax rate increase. Would Assessor Rottmann explain it? Assessor Rottmann stated this asks for 10.9% increase over last years levy. New construction will take up the slack. Helen Biddle asked does the existing not go up more then 05% because of the tax cap? A. Rottmann stated yes, but taxes can go up if you are reassessed. He did commercial this year. He will probably reassess residential next year. Supervisor Anderson stated it’s possible taxes could go down because of new construction. A. Rottmann stated the County will do a property tax rate increase of 04.8% in Campton Township.

N. Anderson moved to adjourn the Public Hearing. R. Johansen seconded and the motion to adjourn carried unanimously. The Public Hearing adjourned at 6:45 p.m.

Respectfully Submitted,
